Miami, FL — L'Forma is proud to have delivered the specialty plaster finishes for Birkenstock's Miami store, a project designed by TPG Architecture that has since earned two of retail design's most respected honors: Gold in the Softline Specialty Store category at the 2024 Shop! Design Awards, and recognition for Innovation: Storefront & Façade in the Retail Design Institute's RDI Class of 2023.
Working alongside TPG Architecture, L'Forma applied Venetian plaster and Marmorino finishes throughout the store, including across dramatic ceilings exceeding 20 feet in height. Executing a hand-troweled finish at that scale demands precise access planning and absolute consistency — every pass has to read as one continuous surface from the floor below. L'Forma self-performed the scope on a two-week schedule without compromising the depth and uniformity the design called for.
Birkenstock Miami's recognition from both Shop! Association and the Retail Design Institute reflects a design realized with exacting execution. For a heritage brand built on craftsmanship, the store's hand-applied plaster surfaces provide a warm, tactile backdrop that matches the product on the shelves — the kind of detail that separates an award-winning retail environment from a merely attractive one.
